"Top Girls"
GJWHF is getting together on Friday, October 1 at 7:00 PM for "Top Girls" performance by PNC Theatre. The performance is located on PNC's campus in LSF 002. The ladies may go out for dessert after the show.
“Top Girls” is set in 1980s Britain during the time of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. “Top Girls” has been described as a “hilarious, brilliant, searching play about the changing lives of women in the modern world.”
The play begins, with the character Marlene being named managing director of an employment agency for women called Top Girls. She goes to dinner to celebrate with friends, but the friends show up from all over the world and hundreds of years in the past, if they ever lived at all - a notable guest is the mythical Pope Joan. This presents a rowdy, energetic forum for reflecting on the achievement of women against impossible odds.
The rest of the play looks farther into the choices and sacrifices Marlene has made to get where she is, whether such achievements can be passed on to children and what happens to those left behind.
No RSVP necessary and it's FREE!!

We will play board games, cards, dice games, or anything that sounds like fun!
Please feel free to bring a game you would like to share!
We hope to see you on January 23rd!

Angel Tree Gift

Through the Pampered Chef party that was held in November 2009 by GJWHF, we were able to raise $166.86 to purchase items as gifts for the Salvation Army Angel Tree. After talking with an Angel Tree representative, it was determined that they really needed infant toys, so that just what the funds were used to purchase!
Thank you to all members who donated or purchased items through the show!
Wine Tasting Success!
Sunday, November 1, twelve of the girls traveled to Tabor Hills Vineyard in Buchanan, MI for a tour of the vineyard, wine tasting and a delicious lunch and conversation overlooking the vineyard. Many ladies had a glass of wine with their meal. The food was elegant and tasty. After our meal, we could purchase the wines we favored from the tasting at a 10% discount. 20% discount was offered on cases of wine.
The trip was a HUGE success and is a definite repeat!
Special thank you to Karen Wallace for organizing this awesome trip!
